  CPS1PSP/CPS2PSP/MVSPSP source code (12/05 update)

We were planning on making a Justin Timberlake reference for this article, but we realized it was a lot tougher than it seemed, so let's keep it straight. NJ's released yet another version of his emulator programs, as well as a bugfix to the source codes.

For those who haven't heard of it, CPS1PSP and CPS2PSP are game emulators for the Capcom Play System 1 and 2 lines of arcade titles. MVSPSP, on the other hand, plays NeoGeo games.

Earlier versions of the emulators had varying problems with lag and sound quality which, little by little, were alleviated with each new release. Now it seems that these latest versions are Santa's way of saying Merry Christmas to programmers, as the lag seems to have disappeared.

As far as we can tell from the translations of the text, NJ realized that unzipping the cache files of games into a folder with the same name would basically remove almost all the lag in playing any of the said games. Yes folks, that means near-perfect emulation for all three programs... at the cost of using up more space on your PSP.

He's also released a bugfix to the source code, so if you feel like dissecting the information and giving him some feedback on his webpage, feel free to do so. You'll need Japanese language support on your PC to read his readme files, but you should be able to translate them to the net once you've done so. If you guys know Japanese, then a faithful translation to his readme files would be much appreciated. We've included both regular and Kernel mode versions of his apps, which you can download below. Enjoy your games!
