PSP Homebrew developer flatmush (creator of flAstro) dropped by the QJ.NET Forums earlier to announce the release of a new application, dubbed PBPCat. This application is built for other PSP developers, and has been described as a substitute for bin2o. Here reads flatmush's full explanation:
PBPCat adds extra files into an EBOOT.PBP, and basically works as an alternative to bin2o in the way that it lets you store files within the eboot and allows you to read them back from within the program.
There is a small sample included, and the packer was compiled with mingw and only comes with a windows makefile. You should use the header files included with the sample to extract files.
This is a really simple program using the PBP file description found in YAPSPDoc.
Given that there isn't a readme included in the download bundle, we Davide would-be users to drop by flatmush's release thread over at the QJ.Net Forums. There's an ongoing discussion at the said thread, which should provide for any info you'll need.
