Wiibrew - Wii homebrew news and downloads - Image 1A new build is out for MPlayerWii, one of our favorite media players to come out from the Wiibrew community. In case you missed the previous release, this Wii homebrew program is a native port of MPlayer and is capable of playing a number of audio and video formats. Lots of new features in this update. Here's the changelog for v0.03:
-added USB storage support (USB reading is dead slow unfortunately, only good for MP3 files)
-added volume controls (Up/Down buttons on the wiimote)
-added wiimote buttons repeat during playback
-added preliminary test network streaming (shoutcast and mms)
-longer filename display in the file selection screen
-fix for widescreen aspect ratio (uses the Wii display settings)
-more audio playback fixes

Yeah, we realize that the last release already carried the Beta tag, but don't think of this release as a regression since it does carry a few additions that improve DragonMedia Player's functionality

It's been a while since we heard from GeeXboX, but it seems the wait was well worth it. In case you missed the previous release, GeeXboX is a media center prototype for the Wii. This build is based on the recently released Whiite-Linux system, which adds a significant number of features to the program, including networking and USB support
