Yes folks, that screenshot above is real. It was created through an app made by Sulpher Dragon, and is based off of xmbWave, which creates randomized waves for your cross menu bar everytime you access it.
According to the information on the readme, it edits the system_plugin_bg_deflate.bin, randomising values between decimal offsets of 464 and 948
