NeoDS Fans of the original Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series of games, rejoice. We've recieved word that developer Ben Ingram is releasing the initial build of the NeoDS homebrew application for the Nintendo DS.
As its name implies, it's an emulator that will enable handheld owners to run games originall meant for SNK's NeoGeo AES/MVS system. Ben notes that given this is an early build, the app may still have some limitations. Here's the changelog for verion 0.1.0 to give you an idea of what it's capable of at the moment:
* Currently emulated:
o M68000 cpu (cyclone)
o Z80 cpu (DrZ80)
o All forms of NeoGeo protection/encryption
o Graphics
o ADPCM audio
o PSG audio
* Not emulated:
o FM audio
o Raster effects
o Multiplayer
o Some timings are not that accurate
Ben is also planning several improvements for NeoDS in the near future. Here's what you'll want to watch out for in the emulators' later builds (Quoting the readme):
* Save states
* Faster M68k cpu core
* Improved stability
* FM audio (?)
* Raster effects (?)
* Wifi multiplayer (?)
* Clean up NeoDSConvert source if I feel like it
Full installation instructions, controls, and technical details for NeoDS version 0.1.0 are available in the file bundle's readme.
