In the wake of the explosion that was Dark_Alex's 2.71 SE-C, other devs have started popping up with their own add-ons, mods, installers, and the like to complement the new custom firmware. Especially the auto-installers, those one-click time saving godsends that automatically load a homebrew into your PSP.
One such dev is csfreakno1 of the Gaming.Homebrew.PSP forums, who has emailed us that he has just released his 2.71 SE-C Easy Installer 1.0. Perfect for the faint of heart who tremble at every step of the more tedious original installation process for SE-C. "With a few clicks and five minutes time," says csfreakno1, you've got SE-C happily tooling away in your PSP.
There's actually a small problem. Okay make that a potential barrier. "Das README ist auf deutsch, Gotthilfe du, wenn du nicht Deutsches sprichst" which is the weblator's way of saying "The README is in German, God help you if you don't speak German." The README itself is rather long, with installation instructions, program instructions, warnings, the whole nine yards, and Google Translate doesn't efficiently translate long blocks of text, and the German translator in Babelfish is kaput with us for some reason.
csfreakno1, if you are by chance reading this, and by the way, we thank you for your emailed tip on this one, would it be possible to supply a straight English translation of the Readme? It would be much, much useful to our readers. Well, until that request is entertained, a few key reminders that are easy to understand, in English or auf deutsch, because failure to follow them will brick your PSP. 'Nuff said.
* For the love of God, please don't try any of this on a TA-082 motherboard!!!
* Make sure your PSP is FW 1.5. There's a bunch of stuff about the prior SE-B version that the weblator had a hard time understanding*, but the gist of it revolves around having 1.5 on your PSP. So the safest bet is to have 1.5 on your PSP.
* You know what, for your PSP's sake, find someone who can understand German. Readmes are very important, but you have to be able to read them in the first place.
