DS-iPod ClickWheel demo As we all know, the Nintendo DS has got to be one of the most flexible systems out there. On top of its already wide array of features, coders have also vastly contributed to expanding the DS's repertoire of tricks and functions.
So, your DS can read ebooks, view images, play videos, play music, be an organizer, serve as an alarm clock, browse the web, and so on and so forth. Now, developer Lick is currently in the middle of a work in progress which will ultimately turn the Nintendo DS into an iPod as well, complete with clickwheel. With this application, the "clickwheel" will be placed on the touchscreen side of your DS, while your playlist will be displayed on the screen at the top. In his post, Lick has also noted that he is still working on the app so that it can support both MP3 and OGG formats.
In the meantime, he has provided the file which pretty much just demos how the ClickWheel will work on your DS, so check it out.
With such a promising application in the works, we can't wait for the release to finally get here. So until then, let's just hope that the people over at Apple decide to stay away from this project, though, as Lick has said, "I know that Apple won't like this. I'm thinking of making the player -skinnable- and use a different default skin. Also, I could release it with a message like: 'If you like this software, buy an iPod! We LOVE APPLE!'"
