Since the launch of the Wii Homebrew Channel is a phenomenal achievement for the Wii homebrew scene, it's only right other developers have cause to celebrate in their own ways.
In honor of the launch, developers tehpola, sepp256, and emu_kidid have released Wii64, a Nintendo 64 emulator for the Wii.
The N64 seems to be popular these days; developer Wally also released a beta of the Daedalus R14 for the PSP - the platform's own N64 homebrew emulator.
Reports say that the emulator is still slow, and there's still a lot of graphical issues, but nevertheless this is still great progress. Hopefully we'll get to see a fully working version in the near future. Here are the developer's notes:
What's New?
* glN64 Port
* MEM2 ROM Cache for Wii (fits 32MB ROMs)
* libfat support (Front Slot & SD Gecko now work)
* libsdcard support (RIP)
* Save/Load on Wii Filesystem
* Progressive video support
* Embedded font support for Qoob users
* Threaded audio
* Various GX_gfx fixes
* Reworked input plugin
* Modular controller input
* Classic controller support
* Developer Features submenu
* Toggle FPS/Debug display
