Developer XlaiR has released Castle Wars PSP Beta 2 as an entry into the recently concluded PSP Hacks Homebrew Idol competition. As its name implies, this homebrew is based on the flash game some of you may have encountered while surfing the net.
The rules are simple: You and either another player or an AI will be given a castle, a fence, and eight cards. Your objective is to use your cards to defend your territory, even as you attack your opponent's forces. This second release will address some problems that were encountered during the homebrew's initial launch (quoting the readme):
* Beta 2 Update:
o Added: Better stats displaying
o Added: Screenshots in stats menu
o Fixed: Two images not transparent background
o Fixed: Cloud movement
o Fixed: Menu images showing wrong text
* Beta 2:
o Added: Moving clouds
o Added: Logos
o Added: Stats at end of game
o Added: Random AI
o Added: Screenshot (Total of 9, after that they will be overwritten!)
o Added: In-Game Menu
o Fixed: The player must now confirm the game before starting.
o Fixed: A couple of minor bugs.
Further details such as the game's controls are available in the file bundle's readme. Enjoy the download, and check back with us again in case we report on any more of the entries of this year's PSP-Hack Homebrew Idol.
