Dance 'n Shoot Musical Shooter for Nintendo DS While its widely known that the shooter genre is a rather small and disbanded bunch, one genre of shooters, "musical shooters" has been expanding. As part of the NeoFlash spring coding contest The_Legend has mad a shooter with music he says sounds something like Donky Konga for the Gamecube. In this game you must kill all of the enemies and press the corresponding pad on the bottom of the screen when it passes through the white circle. A musical timing game that could be construed as a Dance Dance Revolution and Rez mix.
In game, the A,B,X, and Y buttons control the music and shooting. L controls the "weak" laser while the "R" is your special. Pressing L+R+Select and Start resets the game, for restarting or if the sprite system starts looking strange (hanging sprites etc) the author states the code is fine and it doesn't have to do with the engine system. Beware however, this game can quickly turn you into a button masher and sometimes that just doesn't cut it in these games as can end up throwing yourself out of sequence. While the game leaves a few things to be hoped for, overall quite a fun entry.
