Fish Tank 0.2 A month ago, we brought you guys Campanile's homebrew game for the DS called Fish Tank, where the basic goal is to protect your virtual fish from aliens who eat...errr...fish.
Fish Tank is based on the PC game Insaniquarium, which has the same basic concept of protecting your fish and giving them goodies for them to live. For Fish Tank though, your splashy friends will be more like virtual pets, where you get to watch 'em fins grow bigger as you feed and nourish them.
But if you wanna go all cruel, you can also opt not to feed them and starve them to death, then watch as they slowly die...all because of your doing. (Is it becoming obvious that we're fish-lovers here?)
Anyway, the game controls are really simple, press A to add a fish, and touch the screen to drop a pellet in your virtual fishtank. You can drop food one at a time, buy blip fish with B and the most expensive carnivorous fish with X (or Y). You can also opt to buy an orange fish by pressing A. You'll start with 100 units of money, and food bits cost 10 and coins are worth 25.
We brought you the game's demo earlier, but because, well, that was JUST the demo, there are still glitches and nasty stuff in it, but here's what Campanile has done for this version:
* Added carnivorous fish, which will eat any fish for now (maybe only smaller fishes later, even if a small fish eating a big one sounds funny to me)
* Added blip fish
* Money System, everything has a price now, Fishes drop money, money used to buy other fishes.
* Added BGM ("not a great mod, but the only non-techno one I found")
* Fishes now have different speeds
Campanile is still working on improving the mentioned changes and is working on having a "fish meeting" and a "baby-fish debut." (Man, that just sounded really weird.) And he also wants the fish to get hungry faster so as to make gameplay more interesting. Campanile admits that this version isn't really "enjoyable" yet, but says that he's just posting changes to let people know that he's still working on the game.
