Are you aware of the Atari classic arcade game Tempest? Using that game as an inspiration, developer Jum set out to code the Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew game Webfest which we reported last year of October. Now, dev Jum has upgraded it to version 1.2 with some gameplay fixes. Here are the complete changes since our last report:
Version 1.2
* If killed while going down tube, now go to next level.
* Pressing start key (fire) in title screen is disabled for 50 frames (avoids immediate restart after hi-score screen)
* Fixed UFO behaviour
* Adjusted spawning of enemies to improve playability
* Player takes energy hit if spike reaches top
* Shooting red flippers as they recede gives 5x points/charge
* also has version for Windows and Ubuntu Linux
Version 1.1
* Fixed webs 17 to 20 (were all flat before)
* Added enemy spawn data for levels 17 to 20
* Player ship can take 1 hit if charge meter is full
* Added camera shake if player is hit
* Added "BARRIER" and "UFO" enemies
According to coder Jum, Webfest version 1.2 is a specimen of an E3D cross-platform 3D scene engine-supporting game. It features twenty levels each uniquely shaped in a web with increasing difficulty. Take note that this game is only for 1.50 kernel-supporting Sony PSP handhelds only.
For controls, credits, background info and gameplay strategies, access the manual which is included in the file. A readme on how to install Webfest version 1.2 is also around so don't forget to consult it first.
