A new version is out for Adhoc Messenger from FaT3oYCG. Adhoc Messenger is a homebrew program that allows you to send and receive messages between PSP units via an Adhoc connection. Now on version 2.0, the program now has several new features.
You can check out the previous release of the homebrew for a video of the program in action. Although the won't include the new features, at least you'll get a fair idea of what the program does in case you missed the previous release.
Users are advised to browse through the readme before installing the program. Here is the changelog for Adhoc Messenger v2.0:

*UPDATE* PSP homebrew developer Zx-81 has released a minor update for PSPIRC, upping the application to version 1.1.1. This version, sporting only a minor update, has a very short changelog:
* Bug fix in the login menu (psp freeze if you enter key while script menu is selected)

Over at the PspWxp Forums, Qaz released a new messenger portal for people to use. It's called the Pro-Messenger, now on version 1.3, and if it looks like it's got a lot to offer.
It's got 10 games, 12 themes, a User Name Change function, a Display Picture Change function, and a host of useful links

* A clipboard in all dialog boxes. You can even copy from upper screen, holding "L" button.
