PSP homebrew developers interested in the latest news regarding their console may want to take a gander, as fellow coder PSPJunkie_ just dropped by the QJ.Net Forums to announce the release of the DSX Build 013 application.
This homebrew, in case you're asking, is a development library built to ease up the process of creating .prx plugins for the PSP's XMB. Here's a more detailed explanation via the file readme:
DSX simplifies the process of using bad ports of the infamous 'graphics.c' library to run over the XMB. This said 'port' uses VRAM manipulation to achieve what DSX does in hardware. The 'port' takes a pixel on the screen and changes the color value to see something on top of the XMB. DSX uses the power of the PSPs GU (Graphics Utility) to display content over the XMB.
Given that this is a first release, PSPJunkie_ reports that only two functions work at the moment - drawing rectangles, and drawing text of a default font. Prospective users interested in using this application are directed to the file readme and the QJ.Net Forums for info on installation and usage. Once again, we thank PSPJunkie_ for the effort - this app is a most welcome addition to the development scene.
