Homebrew coder phosphorous has just submitted an entry for the ongoing NeoFlash Spring Coding Competition, with this particular application named the Oldschool Library (OSLib) Sprites Lib.
For the guys wondering what an OSLib is, it's a C library originally created by homebrew developer Brunni, and is designed to help hombrew coders develop 2D games, applications, and demos for the PSP.
As for the Sprites Lib, phosphorous explains that it "builds on top of OSLib to make animated sprites as easy as everything else in OSLib." Here is the breakdown of features that people can expect from this application:
Create an animated sprite with only an image, height, and width
Animation plays and loops automatically
Control the animation framerate
Functions to play and stop animation
Ability to reverse animation
Animation can be flipped vertically or horizontally
Set start and end frames of animation
Jump to a specific frame
Create multiple sprites from one sprite sheet
Create different sized sprites from one sprite sheet
Full installation instruntions await in the bundle README, along with details on how to create spritesheets for animated GIFs. Enjoy the download, and make sure to thank phosphorous for the effort!
