In case you've forgotten, PSP-Hacks' Homebrew Competition is still on-going. It actually ends this coming May 13. With that said, we would like to introduce to you another entrant called Screen Defender from homebrew developer teachme. It's actually a 2D space shooter game with a story mode.
We suggest that you take with you a lot of patience and skills if you're going to try out this game. Screen Defender is an excellent game, truth be told, but it's just that game is so hard to beat. Some of its features include:
* Insane difficulty by default (this can not be changed)
* Background music ( 3 tracks with license from the author Marc A. Pullen of "fanaticalproductions.net"
* Screenshot system (it will not overwrite your screenshots)
* Sounds ("http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/" - free sound project)
* Two space ships to select
* More than 10,000 enemies to defeat (Each level has at least 2,000)
* Boss fight
* Eight different type of enemies(+1 Boss)
* Story mode (a lazy programmer, and your boss will be always there for you)
* Bonus weapons("Ultimate")
* Animations
* 5 (&boss) => levels to complete
* Mini games (i.e. "ultimate" weapon installation; actually there's only one "mini" game!)
* AI
* Bonus pop-ups
* Random logo generator (i liked them all)
* Playlist manager
* In-game (mini) tutorial
* Four Scrolling backgrounds (sorry... I didnt have enough time for level editor!)
* Finish the game to unlock the credits
* Hi-score system
* Different fire modes
Given all those features, not to mention the ten thousand-strong enemy, we figure that it would take all of us a while before we unlock those credits. But we don't mind at all because we sure had a great time when we tried Screen Defender.
