Smealum presents us today with v0.5b2 of his Earth Invaders 0: Before the Attack. The game is supposed to be a premise to Smealum's DS homebrew Earth Invaders. If you haven't heard of it, no nedd to worry - the developer says that the gameplay of this PSP homebrew has nothing to do with the DS one. While the DS Earth Invaders was a shoot 'em up, Earth Invaders o is an adventure beat 'em up.
Since we're already on v0.5b2, let me walk you through the history of this seemingly cool game:
0.01: First "playable" version presented. There's almost nothing there can be done here.
0.2: Version released only on IRC; some additions.
0.4: First "true" version; character at last can break the enemies and move itself more quickly.
0.436667819: Addition of the teleportation.
0.436667820: Correction of the organization when the character falls.
0.5a: Load of the maps since external files. Possibility of players being able to create their own map.
0.5b: Small menu of selection of map. Allows having several maps in meme times. 48 max for the moment.
0.5b2: "Securisation" selection of map. Addition of a "true" dead. Correction of various bugs. This version has a true menu and some splash screens plus more!
Here's how you can control the very Goku-looking character:
- UP RIGHT LEFT: To move itself
- UP RIGHT LEFT (2times): Dash
- HIGH: Regenerate his ki (when one is not in flight)
- LOW: To defend itself or transport the enemy (if in a hurry at the right moment) (when one is not in flight)
- Stick: To move itself
- X'S: Jump; Fly
- O: Kick
- / : Fist blow
- Square: Ki blast (energy ball)
- R: uSpeed
- L: Reverse gravity (to walk to the ceiling)
- L+R: Leave
Expect the follong to be featured in future releases of this game:
Menu
Level Editeur included in the game
Method infiltration
Automatic turrets
Do text woods for the history
Once all that will be done, add container (to do levels, traps, enemies etc.)
