WireWorld How many of you remember a program by the name of Wireworld? Homebrew developer asiekierka has ported the program over to the Nintendo DS for us to experience and enjoy.
For those of you who may not be familiar with it, WireWorld DS v0.3 is based upon the classic cellular automaton of the same name first proposed by Brain Silverman in 1987. In it, players attempt to construct logic gates consisting of cells that belong to one of several states: empty, electron head, electron tail and conductor.
There are some notable differences and features in the latest version of asiekierka's port, including:
* The four states are designated as:
o space - represented by black
o wire - represented by gold
o spark - represented by red
o tail - blue
* a built-in editor
* clear/clear electrons
* The rules:
o spark changes to tail
o tail changes to wire
o wire changes to spark if it's surrounded by one or two sparks
* WireWorld v0.2a fixed the start/stop button from toggling too fast
* WireWorld v0.3 added loading and saving.
asiekerka has noted that the save feature in WireWorld v0.3 is buggy, and that the source code may be made available to anyone who wants it. Also, as with all homebrew programs for the Nintendo DS, kindly exercise caution when downloading and installing the software.

DSLife by Jeremysr DSLife by Jeremysr If you remember Lifesa Trip from a few months ago, it was a mind-blowing, multicolored exposition of Conway's Game of Life on the DS. Problem is, working with it seemed more like an exercise in programming the game rather than the point-and-click simplicity you'd expect from the DS - and with that touchscreen, you dang well wanted that simplicity

We've seen Games of Life before on handhelds, but it's nice to have options, especially for a game as complex (or perhaps "entrancing" is the proper word) as this. Jeremy Ruten, a.k.a. Elektro_Plankton, has come out with a new Game of LIfe simulator which he calls DSlife 3
